I'm looking for the lyrics (and translation) to 'T*t Galop Pour Mamou ... It would mean a lot to me!

My mom, (who passed away a few months back) remembers her grandparents (who spoke only French) say "ti galop ti galop" to her when she was a baby, and they would bounce her on their foot (as if she were riding a horse).

I want to learn cajun accordion--and this song is so meaningful to me (the Balfa Brothers original version), and I don't even know what it says!

Any ideas on how to find the lyrics would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

I have it this way:

About two years ago I stumbled onto the most incredible resource for these songs.
An Encyclopedic book called "YE YAILLE CHERE" by Raymond E. Francois.
It has over 400 classic and contemporary Cajun songs

You'd probably expect to pay a fortune for it, but I got it for less than thirty dollars on the internet. Grab one if you can-- I expect them to go out of print very soon.
A priceless treasure.

The translation they give is this:

Canter to Mamou ('Tit galop means a Little Gallop, "tit" (TEE) is a contraction of PETIT)
I sold my little mule for fifteen cents
I bought some red candy for the kids and some sugar and coffee for the old folks.

Canter canter to Mamou- I sold my little wagon for fifteen cents
I bought some red candy for the kids and a yard of ribbon for my wife.

Good luck with your music

That's it!
P’tit Galop Pour Mamou

Giddy-Up to Mamou
Giddy-up, giddy-up to Mamou,
I sold my little mule for fifteen cents.
I bought some red candies for the little ones
And some sugar and some coffee for the old folks.

Giddy-up, giddy-up to Mamou,
I sold my little wagon for fifteen cents.
I bought some red candies for the little ones
And a yard of ribbon for my wife.

So simple, but lovely.
Perfect, thank you. The entire booklet is great.
