Am I asking too much? Am I naive? Is this even possible?

I'm trying to find out something, why do I have to listen to commercials every few songs? Is this something that can be changed?

I understand that you have to pay expenses. I know that songs aren't free and the artists have to make money. I understand that someone has to put all of this together pictures, articles,etc. My problem is I'm not interested in the latest "Wayman Brothers" movie, I don't need a prepaid ATT phone and I don't have an ACE hardware store near me. I would also like to be able to make requests for songs or artists.

Are these things that are possible? I would rather give money to something that we would all benefit from. I'm not sure what it would cost but I would rather pay $10 per month then listen to that commercial crap. Especially if that means that every so often there would be a "listeners" or "club members" block and the most requested songs or artists would be played. Then if I want to spend money on a movie or cell phone or grass killer then I can do it. I will pick who and where. I love the music don't get me wrong, I just hate the commercials

I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but I would be interested to know. If this is impossible or too hard or if you don't have the technology then just say. I would be curious to hear what others have to say. I may just be a crazy old man and if so tell me and I'll just shut up.

Thanks,

Just an old Cajun Man who like Real Music " Arnie "

A very interesting reply to this blog post: http://cajunmusicradio.com/profiles/blogs/am-i-asking-too-much-am-i

Perhaps we should just delete this site and send everyone to Pandora so we can save the trouble and expense of trying to build a community with no support from the members. We set up free streaming and also a paid alternative. Only a couple of members joined, so we'll probably discontinue that. Then we opened up donations so members could help support the community and only one donation came in over a 2 month period.

Now we have members posting suggestions to go to other mainstream sights to get their music.

Sometimes I wonder if this effort is worth it.

Hi Arnie;
Thanks again for helping. Yes we are not trying to make money just to cover expenses so we will be cheaper always.
About the confusion. Sorry about that. I get go back in and create a new extra link to the free Cajun stream in the main top menu. This way it is not so confusing. We had another member this morning very upset because they thought we stopped the free stream. So hopefully fixing the link makes it easier to find the free stream and the VIP stream.

Regarding the pictures in the songlist. Because many of the songs are very old original and many did not come on CDs there is no album cover. This is not a problem on your side. It is just there is no album cover in the database.

Regarding the links. I will go right now and fix the links. It will only take a moment and is a very good idea. Again thanks!

Then I have to finish mowing the damn grass. LOL

Allen,

I was able to get on. I have a couple of good and bad things to say, I'll start with the good.

After we had spoken, I checked around for some other commercial free cajun music sites. You are less expensive then any others. $6 per month or $60 per year is common. I thought $10 was good, so Bravo to you.

I am enjoying the COMMERCIAL FREE listening. The videos look good, but I haven't checked them out yet. I'll let you know how that works.

Problems:

I got a little lost at first. I double clicked on the Cajun Radio button and I went to the free section. I tried to log in there but that didn't work. I got out and went back to the drop down and saw the VIP button. After that I got in no problem. Not sure if anything can be done to make it a little less confusing. Us old people get lost real easy.

It showed the last four tracks that had played, but there was no picture. Is there something I need to change on my computer?

This links at the bottom are sort of out of the way. Is there anyway they could be placed in a more visible place?

Good start!! I will drive around on it and if you don't mind post other suggestions as I see them.

Thanks,

Arnie

Arnie;
Thanks for your help and feedback. This morning we launched the LMRN VIP club and made it available to all members. We will take your suggestions and try to make the club better and better as the days go by.

Enjoy your free membership! And thanks again;

Hi Arnie;
Sorry for the delay but we now have the details done. If you send me an email I can get you connected to the network. In a couple days we will also have an automated way to do this. I even set up a deal where you can get the commercial free for no money.

Since you are the only one interested so far I will give you a free account to get your feedback. LEt me know what you think.

Thanks again (and tell Arbie I said hello!)\

Sounds good. Who is Arbie? ;-)

Hi Arbie;
Whew. Let us work out the details and I will post them here.
I do know for sure we can provide members a paid and sponsor supported commercial free stream. Just the details need to be decided. We already have a lot of expenses and do not want to go broke. LOL Actually we had already talked about this option when we first created the Cajun social network.

Out of our over 200 members no one else seems to be interested in this or at least they are not speaking up. Maybe it is the holiday and everyone is busy.

I will post the details and we'll see. If nothing else we can provide you with a personal LMRN membership and you can get the Cajun Zydeco stream with no commercials.

Thanks again;

Sounds good to me. I would be interested in details, i.e. can we pay monthly, would I save by paying annually? Are there any other benefits to being a "club member" etc.

To continue, if there are other members interested in this then we can look at adding it here. We would still provide the free streams but just add an option to pay to get rid of commercials. In fact we have sponsors who will pay for memberships so we could let some users get their service free. So no commercials and no money. How about that? LOL

Merci;
Allen
