The original German boxes were mostly Sterling and Monarch. Parts got hard to get during WWII and as they began to wear out, some folks started to salvage and repair as they could. Most people generally credit the first "homegrown" cajun accordion to Sydney Brown of Lake Charles, La. The rest they say is history... There are
many good makers now in Louisiana and East Texas as well.

Ken. Just joined. I am originally from La. and learned to play a lilttle when I was a kid. About 6 years ago I started back to playing some for my own enjoyment. I was lucky enough to listen to Iry LeJeune when I was in my teens, just before he passed on. Marvelous musicien. Was fortunate enough to visit Ray Abshire at his home,
a true gentleman and his wife a lovely person for sure. Ray is what I call "the genuine article" and I hope to have his friendship forever.

I have 2 Martin Accordions and enjoy playing along with all the great musicians on CD's ...

Hi Ken,

Go to the "Invite" tab at the top of the screen and choose "Enter e-mail addresses". Then just type people's addresses in.

Alternatively, if somebody is already a member ("Members" tab - select "All Members") click on their profile and underneath their picture is a "Add as friend" button.
