Who is the Greatest Cajun Musician of All Time

I'd like to see what the group thinks. Who do you think the greatest musician who ever lived is. This may be someone who is no longer alive. It may not even be your favorite. Just who do you think the greatest ever would be.

Great choice! What is your favorite song that Nathan recorded?
Oops. Posted as reply to original as well. Put in right place now, huh?
Greatest dead guy = Iry LeJeune
Greatest livin' guy = Ray Abshire
Nicest muso I ever met = (in no particular order) Don Montoucet, Bobby Michot, Cedric Watson, Mitch Reed, Randy Vidrine, Goldman Thibodeaux, Jesse Lege....................more when I remember 'em :-)
Favourite tune = 99yr waltz (Valse de Quatre Vingt Dix Neuf Ans)
my dad, Marc Savoy, hands down
I would say that would definitly be Aldus Roger. The man was a carpenter by day and would sometimes play seven night a week. Also, he hardly had any education, and look at all the songs he recorded.

You bet, hands down, hands up, hands left and right . . .Marc has contributed so much to our Cajun culture-both in his talent to make music( God, before I die, let me play the accordian just a small fraction like Marc plays) and to make Cajun accordians and for being such a "pure original Cajun" and never being ashamed of being Cajun. I love that hand written poster that he has- or hopefully he still has- near the front door of his shop about being Cajun . . . I wish that he would mass produce that and sell them . . . I wish that I had a copy . . . and your brothers are pretty good on that accordian also. Now, behind every great man, there is a GREATER woman . . . your Mom, Ann. Next to my wife, your Mom has got to be the most beautiful woman in the world . . . and I say that with the greatest respect. I say that because she IS very beautiful and also because she is an "American" who dropped into our culture and was such a perfect fit. Marc on the accordian and Ann on the guitar . . . it doesn't get any better . . . they are our modern day Joe Falcon and Cleoma Breaux and better . . . you have every reason to be super proud of your Mom and Dad and your family. Please keep that family talent and Cajun pride going for the next generations to enjoy . . . and please thank your Mom and Dad for the enjoyment that they have given me . . . an old Cajun exiled in Texas.
God Bless you.

Why would anyone want to try to narrow this down to one person. Many have contributed greatly to the Cajun culture that when counted as a whole we are able to see the greatness of our culture. Besides how can look at the different styles and compare it to someone elses work. I am just thankful that we can listen to their great work and relive the times past.
